Antonia Davis
Born in San Diego in 1955,
An Artivist in the streets since 2003, artist Antonia Davis has worked to support a myriad of social justice and environmental causes in San Diego.
Founding member of the San Diego Puppet Insurgency offering imagery and art builds to scores of local organizations and student groups. Her own work focuses on amplifying the voices of marginalized groups.
After a lifetime of being told by
old white men
what is right or wrong
what is true or false
what is history
what is important
and what is sacred,
I have decided to listen to other
voices. The voices
of women
of people of color
of youth
of queer and two-spirit people
of nature
All of these voices ask me to use
my white, cis, and economic
privilege to amplify their voices.
Their struggles are our struggles.
